One of our children has Down syndrome and a serious gluten allergy. Tim and Marilyn did an extraordinary job of accommodating the horse riding experience to meet our child’s needs and providing food options that were gluten free.

Tim and Marilyn were excited to share their vast knowledge of the area’s history including the influence of several native american tribes, settlements, cattle drives and formation of the surrounding hills and caves.

What a great experience for our family. Tim and Marilyn were incredible hosts. The home cooked meals were delicious. The rooms and accommodations were perfect with amazing views of the foothills and plains. The scenery and remote location of the ranch were ideal.

However, the most important element for this ranch are the hosts, Tim and Marilyn, two of the nicest and friendliest people you will ever meet. Tim is quite a historian of the area and knows all about the Indian and cowboy events that took place there. In all my visits to other ranches, nobody took the time and effort to make sure I had the proper saddle and was comfortable with it. The instruction on horse handling was superb and something I had never experienced in all my previous ranch visits. Tim also supervised our shooting time and is quite the sharpshooter himself.

Now to the other 'good stuff', the meals were beyond outstanding. How I wish Marilyn could come to my house and teach me how to cook better! Everything we ate was absolutely delicious, and plenty of it. She did give me a few tips on her skills, and I will definitely follow them.

During the past few years we have visited several ranches in Colorado and Wyoming, so when booking our stay in Conchos Hill Guest Ranch in New Mexico I did not expect to find anything new, but was I in for a surprise. The first surprise was the incredible scenery. We had lived in New Mexico many years ago but had never visited this part of the state. I assumed it was going to be the same as I was used to so was astounded with what we viewed, which beauty really defies description. Then the hacienda which is beautiful, and its associated quest quarters which have all the comforts you would not expect in a ranch. On top of that the food was excellent as advertized.

I was fascinated by all the area history that Tim knows well, going back to the Indians who roamed this vast area and before. Despite living in New Mexico for ten years some time ago, I learned more about its history in a couple of days from Tim than I ever knew. Amazing!

Concho Hills Ranch provided a great western experience that exceeded our expectations.

What a fabulous stay this was! I'd had my doubts about my ability to ride horseback anymore, because I was never good at it and it now frightened me. Our first day, Tim (one of our hosts) explained exactly what is expected of their riders, as well as what the horses expect. Once he gave us the basics of riding there, he helped us select the 'proper' saddle for us. No one, in every ranch we've visited before, ever gave us the opportunity to select our saddle...we just took what they gave us. There's an enormous difference in saddles, and I've never had one that fit so well for me. It was comfortable, can you believe it? Tim selected my horse, based on the horse's personality (and mine). By the time I got to actually ride, I felt so safe and secure that it never occurred to me to be frightened. Tim caught every flaw in my riding and told me how to fix it. I'm still in awe of my new-found ability, and can hardly wait until we go back and I can develop my skill further. The beautiful quarter horses are very well trained in the method that Tim uses, and are never abused. No wonder they're so good!

All in all, this was a fantastic visit. Both Tim and Marilyn are dedicated to their guests having a great time and endeavor to do whatever it takes to make their stay a wonderful time. They certainly made ours and we are already planning our next visit.

How to begin to explain the magical experience I had at Concho Hills. I went searching for a place where I could connect with nature and disconnect from the fast lane and received so much more. The Norris family treated me like royalty and just a few hours into my trip, I already felt like I was part of the team. I was able to learn so much of the rich and exciting history and culture of our South West and got to experience the beauty of the land and sweetness and hospitality of the people from the region. Most of all, I got to ride any horse I chose and as long as I wanted to, so I did just that. After pretending to be a legitimate cowgirl during each incredible ride, I was pampered with delicious meals, excellent conversation and great entertainment. My room was beautiful, impeccable and very comfortable. If you're looking to experience a slice of the South West and immerse yourself in nature, do it like I did it. Do it in luxury at the Concho Hills Guest Ranch. I am definitely coming back and bringing others with me.

So all in all, Concho Hills was a dream vacation. From one who was dubious about enjoying it, I loved it all. See for yourself, you won't be sorry!

This is a really amazing place!!! Tim and Marilyn are fantastic hosts, the premises are first class, their help Cole and Leah were very courteous and helpful. We basically had the ranch for ourselves and there is really nothing I can say that I didn't like. Tim provides in depth explanations of ranch life, he is a fantastic and very patient teacher. Here you can call the shots, literally. Rooms are first class, meals are prepared and served in a home atmosphere. I went with a friend on a very long southwestern motorcycle trip, frankly I was not expecting the last 12 miles of the drive were on a dirt well maintained road, but that just enhanced the whole experience. Highly recommend this ranch, wish I had the time to spend one week. Thank you Marilyn and Tim!!

I must tell you about their 'facilities'. The adobe ranch house is about the most beautiful place I've ever seen. The framed photos from pioneer days decorate the walls, adding to the feeling of reality in all the tasteful decorations Marilyn (the other host) has placed in this comfortable ranch house. The separate guest rooms are tastefully done; everything is first class here.

Our children (12, 14 and 16 years old) had an amazing experience. They loved feeding the horses and an adopted calf, exploring caves, searching for relics and learning how to tie “cowboy neckties.” Most of all, they enjoyed the horse riding experience. Tim, Cole and Macy did a great job training us how to ride western style.
